South Beach Diet Delivery Adds New Keto Meal Options!
Good news low-carb dieters!
The South Beach Diet delivery team has recently updated their menu items to include new Keto-friendly meal and shake options.
If you follow diet trends, you’ll notice that the Keto diet is hot, hot, hot right now.
And with these new options, you can try Keto – without having to make all the specialty meals yourself!
What Exactly Is Keto?
While it sounds technical, the Keto diet is really just another name for a type of very low carb diet.
The diet tends to be higher in fat and protein and lower in carbs. By eating mainly fat vs carbs you force your body to burn fat for energy – instead of carbs.
Once your body is switched into this “fat-burning mode” instead of carb-burning mode, some people find it’s a lot easier to lose weight (especially if they have insulin-resistance issues).
The byproducts of this fatburning in your body are called ketones – hence the ketogenic diet.
South Beach Diet and Keto
The South Beach Diet has always been a lower carb diet (especially during Phase 1) – which is why it has such a great track record of helping people lose weight. However a lot of people don’t realize that it’s actually a lower carb,keto-friendly type plan.
And if you’re one of those people who wants to try the Keto diet – but you don’t have time to spend hours in the kitchen – this is a great option.
They have recently added Keto-friendly shakes to their plan along with 60 new Keto-friendly meals.
The South Beach plan gives you about 40 grams of Net Carbs per day in Phase 1 and 50 grams of Net Carbs per day in Phase 2. That brings me to the next point.
South Beach is NOT a Strict Keto Plan
One thing I like about the South Beach Diet approach – vs the strict Keto-diet approach – is that you’re only cutting carbs for a short amount of time. You do eventually get to add in healthy carbs to your diet as your body adjusts and you lose the weight.
Because let’s face it. For most of us, cutting out carbs for the rest of your life is just not reasonable – nor healthy.
But with the South Beach diet approach, you’re going into mild ketosis for your first 2 phases and then slowly adding in healthier carbs as the weight comes off.
Plus the speed and style at which you’re adding those healthy carbs in won’t put the weight back on. It’s a much more balanced approach than strict Keto dieting for the rest of your life.
Bottom Line?
If you’ve found that you get great results with Keto or low carb dieting – but don’t have time to do all the meal-planning or carb counting, the South Beach diet plan is worth considering.
Plus, once you’ve lost the weight, you won’t have to stay on a strict low carb diet for the rest of your life (which may not be healthy – or realistic – for most people).
